How long can a oil-type transformer be kept energized without load?

Deia Bayoumi, Global Product Manager

ABB's answer

Theoretically the transformer can be energized without load indefinitely, however as soon as the unit is energized the No Load Losses will start to add up so energy consumption will occur right from the outset. We would recommend that the unit be put into full operation as soon as practical to avoid unnecessary costs.
