Is an integrated GIS of the same voltage range more expensive than the conventional GIS substation?

Olav Knudsen , Principal Engineer, Gas-insulated switchgear

ABB's answer

No. Due to pre-fabrication under optimal conditions (i.e. in factory environment), the total cost will be lower. The single source of supply for a fully integrated substation solution saves on total project cost and minimizes the risk in project execution of late changes. Prefabrication and equipment integration greatly reduces on-site work yielding substantial cost savings. Re-using substation designs facilitates both system operations and maintenance for the customer by reducing the need for staff training and spare part handling.
