Is the ELK hybrid switchgear suitable for bus transfer switching?

Olav Knudsen , Principal Engineer, Gas-insulated switchgear

ABB's answer

Yes, the ELK hybrid switchgear can be equipped with fast acting disconnectors, which are using patented snapping mechanism to handle the voltages occurring during bus transfer switching of long air insulated bus runs. Tested values are 300V commutation voltage at 3200A operating current for 420kV applications and 400V commutation voltage at 4000A operating current for 550kV applications.
