What is an integrated GIS application?

Olav Knudsen , Principal Engineer, Gas-insulated switchgear

ABB's answer

Integrated GIS is a prefabricated gas-insulated switchgear unit with housing that can be produced at the same speed as a conventional GIS but has a significantly shorter installation time, about less than 50 percent of typical GIS installations. As it is pre-fabricated, it involves less on-site constructions and requires only simple foundations. The scope comprises of a complete installation with control, protection and wirings. With ratings up to 300 kV, 4000 A, 63 kA, it is the perfect solution for customers in need of a substation that can be quickly energized for grid expansions, for backup or emergency power needs and for short installation time requirements. It is suitable for both permanent and more temporary installations.
