What is the maximum annual SF6 leak rate for ABB HECS-100M? How was the leak rate determined? Is the leak rate valid for the entire life of the circuit breaker?

Looking for information about annual SF6 leak rate and how the leak rate was determined. Is the leak detection system sensitive enough to detect a small leak < 0.5%?

ABB's answer

The SF6 leakage rate of HECS-100 is very low (less than 0.5% per year), and it is determined for each interrupting chamber during its assembly by means of a gas tightness test. During this test, the interrupter chamber is placed within a fixed air volume, and a gas sampling analyzer system is used to monitor the quantity of SF6 gas within this volume for a certain period of time. The limit of detection of SF6 molecules of such device is 6 ppb (what is the full term for ppb?), which allows to detect leakage rates  of <0.5% per year, which applies for the entire life of the circuit-breaker.
