Can PASS be used for capacitor bank or inductive loads?

Alberto Zulati, Global Product Manager PASS

ABB's answer

With capacitive or inductive loads, controlled switching is used for elimination of harmful electrical transients upon planned switching of mainly capacitor banks, shunt reactors and power transformers. For these applications, PASS is provided with single pole operating mechanism or staggering system, that provides a mechanical displacement of the phases, together with the switchsync controller. Switchsync is a relay, that receiving from existing instrument transformers voltage/current curves gives as output the CB launch signal.
