When is it better to use an IGCT rather than an IGBT?

Katja Fröhlich, Communications Manager

ABB's answer

The IGCT is the device of choice for high power industrial applications ranging above 5 MWs. It allows high power density and compact design without the need of paralleling semiconductors while at the same time it provides optimum efficiency due to its low losses.
