What is the ABB flexible tank concept?

Abhishek Rai, Marketing and Sales Manager

ABB's answer

ABB flexible tank concept is a protective strategy to mitigate risk of rupture during a transformer internal arcing fault event. The tank is reinforced on weak points and is flexibility is increased in order to absorb much as possible arc energy by plastic deformation. Because tank deformation is limited to a certain level of arc energy, the tank is designed to rupture above a certain energy limit at a defined location on the tank.
