What voltage levels do we apply to measure insulation resistance in different transformers?

Abhishek Rai, Marketing and Sales Manager

ABB's answer

Dielectric tests are performed to verify transformer integrity in the event of voltage stresses, which can appear as a result of normal as well as abnormal operation. The voltage levels and duration are outlined in the relevant IEC & IEEE standards. These are typically a multiple of the required voltage class; however, higher levels can be agreed upon for certain applications.
