What is the recommended maintenance schedule for a dead tank circuit breaker?

Herb Rogers, Head of High-voltage Service

ABB's answer

The recommended maintenance cycle is dependent on the number of open/close operations of the breaker along with the amount of current the breaker has cleared (fault duty). However, under normal operations, you should expect to perform overhaul maintenance every 3000 operations. In addition, annually you need to visually inspect the operating mechanism, control cabinet and other components as well as taking a gas sample to check for moisture. Every five years it is recommended that you test and time the breaker.
