How and to what extent can the sound level of Transformers be controlled?

Andre Steinberg, Marketing and Sales Manager

ABB's answer

It is not possible to completely omit transformer sound because it is bound to its physical function. It however can be controlled to a certain extent by the transformer design. Core vibrations and therefore the no-load sound level can be easier controlled than winding vibrations an the load sound level. In case a required sound level cannot be achieved by design, external mitiagation means such as panels or enclosures have to be considered.
