Should a transformer for a factory load that is high in VSDs (say 60% VSD load) be designed to IEC60076 or to IEC61378 for converter transformers?

When is a "converter" transformer required?

Richard Mucha, Global Marketing Manager

ABB's answer

Transformers need to comply with all relevant standards; in the case of oil-filled transformers, the base requirements are covered by 60076 and 61378 covers the key elements particular to the requirements of transformers and reactors intended for use with semiconductor converter plants.
